It's been too long

Friday, some friends from work invited me out dancing. I wasn't sure I wanted to go because I'm not a big country dancer. I have been thinking about picking it up again, but needed some encouragement :) Needless to say, I got over my initial reservations and decided to go. It was the best decision I've made in a long time. I had SO much fun!! Danced a few 2-steps, some triple-steps and a waltz or two. I even had a chance to dance a couple of west coast swings and though I'm incredibly rusty, I did alright. The night was a great success and just reaffirmed for me how importance dancing is to me. Now that I'm enjoying country music again, the lyrics to Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance" have a special meaning for me:

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give fate a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
DanceI hope you danceI hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

Back in action

Well, after a year and a half of not posting on this site and only lasting a few months at the site I supposedly relocated to...I'm back. I've only recently realized how much I enjoyed posting to this blog and what an outlet it was for me. I was never much into keeping a journal. I tried on occasion and actually have one that I finally filled up (only took me 10 years) and I started another, but writing by hand wears me out, and I'm not great at it. I love that I can read and edit my "ramble" before I actually post it.

There have been a few dramatic changes in our lives in the last year and a half. Jessica married a wonderful guy, Spencer, and he's off serving in Iraq. He was home last month for a couple of weeks and should be back from his tour in another 5 months. He was just awarded the Purple Heart. What a guy!

Parker has grown like a weed and is now 2 and a 1/2 years old.

As of my last post, they had moved out, but since Spence was called to action, they moved back in with me. We actually moved into a house at the beginning of the year. The duplex was just way too cramped for us. The most recent addition to the family is Avery. No, not a baby sister, but a mixed lab puppy. She's adorable, but lots of work :)

More to come later and hopefully some cool additions to the site. Glad to be back!
